About Us

In the middle of 1997 a small group of 36 mills chained themselves by hand-in-hand and paved the way to the emergence of the TASMA...TAmilnadu Spinning Mills Association.

Earlier there was no effective representative body, exclusively to represent and address the problems and grievances of the spinning mills as a whole.

Because of this reason TASMA has come into existence on 29.08.1997.

Afterwards, the Association's Byelaws have been drafted and approved by the Executive Committee on 22.09.1997 and in due-course the same was registered under the Tamilnadu Societies Registration Act 1975 with Registration No.330/1997.

Presently the Association is also affiliated with the Employers' Federation of South India (EFSI), Tamilnadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Consumers Association of India (CAI) and Coimbatore District Small Scale Industries Association (CODISSIA).

The Association with the able Leadership of the President Mr. A.P. Appukutty (Chairman cum Managing Director of Chola Group of Textile Mills) and the Vice President Mr. P.V. Chandran (Chairman cum Managing Director of Ambika Group of Cotton Mills), started to penetrate subsequently in all the spheres of the common issues related to every mills' administration.

The Association has successfully challenged the views of the Government in so many areas, wherever TASMA felt that the Member interests are involved and affected to a considerable extent.

The various activities of TASMA are increasing in manifolds every day. Particularly TASMA has presented two CDM Projects for the benefits of its members to receive Carbon Credits from UNFCCC.
